Our NCCC Road Rallyes are Saturday, July 30th. Flyer in the Checkered Flag, or available at here. Basic info: registration noon to 12:30 at Applebee's,10150 Hudson Road at Woodbury Commons (just south east of intersection of I-94 and Woodbury Drive), starts at 1:00 pm. Cost reduced this year to just $20 per car. Route will be about 72 miles total, and will return to the Applebee's about 3:30. Corvettes with at least one NCCC member will be in one class, and any other combination (non-Corvette, or Corvette with non-NCCC members) will be in the other. Along the way, we will have games of chance or skill such as poker hands, dice toss, drawing numbers, etc.that will determine prize winners. Open to any cars, and non-members as well as COM or NCCC members.
Most of our tours or road rallyes begin at an establishment like a McDonald's or Applebee's where food is available, include a drive of around three hours and 75 miles including an ice cream or refreshments stop (often including an apple orchard option for a Fall cruise), and ending at an eating establishment. There is generally no charge to participants on a Cruise other than what they choose to spend for food or other purchases, or a small charge on the order of $20 per vehicle if the event is a road rallye, where some contests such as poker hands, dice tossing, or games of skill result in prizes for the winners.

Fall cruise 2016
Saturday, Oct. 15th, 2016
COM's annual Fall Cruise traditionally combines country roads, colored leaves, and apple orchards, and this year's cruise followed this pattern Winding from Canterbury Park through Chaska, Carver, and Jordan along the Minnesota River, we stopped at "Minnesota's Largest Candy Store" South of Jordan. Not only tens of thousands of candies, hundreds of soft drinks, fresh pies and fudge, but also pumpkins, apples from Jim's Apple Orchard, squash, gourds, and corn tempted our group of about twenty-five members, family, and friends. A dozen Corvettes from all generations except the C-2 were joined by a few other vehicles.
After leaving the Candy Store, we tested a few more roads in the Belle Plaine area before arriving at Emma Krumbee's Restaurant and Bakery, General Store, and Orchard. It appeared that several hundred others had the same idea, so our plans to eat at Krumbee's had to be adjusted. Some stayed and ate there, some went to a bar/restaurant in downtown Belle Plaine, and many went to Cindy's Kitchen, just across Mn 169, all of which received favorable reviews.
This event will no doubt be repeated in coming years, as long as our members enjoy country drives, fall colors, and lunch and activities with their friends.

Another fun event are Cruises! COM has sponsored a Fall Cruise for many years, and we try to do a spring or summer Cruise as well. A Cruise is similar to our Rallyes, but does not include any competitive events. We typically begin at a parking lot or McDonald's, and usually our cruises do not include any entry fee, or at most a small donation to a charity. After signing the standard Waiver form, entrants receive a set of Route Instructions, again designed to keep everyone on course. Our Cruise events are open to any vehicles, but most of the cars will be Corvettes.
A typical Cruise will include a total drive of 50-100 miles through some scenic areas, and with a rest stop part way through the event, often including a snack, apple, or ice cream option. Some past cruises have included a stop at a Car Show or other event or location of interest to our club members. Duration Start to Finish Point is often about three to four hours, depending on the length of time spent at the rest stop, show, or other stop of interest, with the end point always including an eating establishment.
One of the most exciting and easy ways for you to enjoy time behind the wheel of your car is at one of our autocross events. An autocross is a timed event; running against the clock you compete by going from start to the finish line in the shortest amount of time on a flat paved surface (such as a very large parking lot).
Doesn't sound hard? Well, there are plenty of orange marker cones to guide you through the corners making navigation an exercise in strategy and skill. Believe it or not this is a national sport and "watching" it is not the same as experiencing it for yourself! Get in the seat, give it a try... We guarantee you'll be hooked.

The Corvettes of Minnesota Fall Cruise for 2015 started at the McDonald's on the Oakdale/Lake Elmo border, just off I-694.. About 15 cars, mostly Corvettes, followed a route around the Tri-Lakes area of Lake Elmo (Lake DeMontreville, Lake Jane, and Olsen Lake) to Countryside Farm in Lake Elmo. We spent some time shopping for the perfect pumpkin, feeding goats at the farm, looking at the Haunted House and Wild West Town, and taking lots of pictures. As on all our cruises, the course instructions were designed with keeping everyone on the proper course.
Next on the trip was a car tour through historic Stillwater, "Birthplace of Minnesota", past many of the Lumber Baron homes from the 1850's to 1890's, and other historic buildings. A short drive into Wisconsin, and a fun drive on a twisting township road, led us to the 100-year old Bass Lake Cheese Factory. After a refreshing stop, we traveled north through Somerset and some small villages on more winding roads to Osceola, and back across the St. Croix River to Minnesota. A short drive south took us through the tiny settlement of Copas, and then to Scandia, an early Swedish settlement in the area. What could be better than burgers at Meister's (a German bar/restaurant in a Swedish community)? After lunch at Meister's, Cruise participants were free to return home by their own routes, with several stopping at Aamodt's Apple Orchard near Stillwater for pie and ice cream, or to purchase various varieties of apples in their huge apple barn.
