COM Summer Cruise

Summer Cruise with Waterfall Stops and Picnic Option

Saturday, July 30, 2022

Open to all cars and individuals; COM membership and Corvette not required. This is a recognized National Collector Car Appreciation Day Event, so bring your car and friends and enjoy the drive. Assemble in the lot north of the Woodbury Applebee’s (7250 Valley Creek Plaza, off Valley Creek Road, just east of I-494) between 11:30 and noon, with noon departure. Get Route Instructions and sign waivers, and quick meeting at 11:45. Applebee’s opens at 11:00 am for any who might want to go inside for food, beverage, rest rooms, etc. We are suggesting a $5 donation per vehicle to cover club costs of putting on the Cruise. We’ll see waterfalls on the Kinnickinnic River, South Fork, and Vermillion River.

The Cruise will be 70 miles in length, and should take under three hours to complete, with several brief stops to view waterfalls, experience a suspension walking bridge, a brief winery stop (all with very minimal walking), a few history lessons from your Director, and several winding country roads. We’ll end at the Interstate 94 Rest Area in West Lakeland Township, Mn., about 3 miles west of the St. Croix I-94 (Hudson) crossing for those wanting to socialize and enjoy their picnic lunches. No admission fees at any of the stops, and for those not wanting to pack a picnic lunch, we’ll be stopping at the outstanding Jordan Meats and  Deli (a family-owned grocery with full deli, great sandwiches, beverages, baked goods, etc.) in Lakeland Shores, about 5 miles before the Rest Area. Beverages and some snacks are also available in the Rest Area from vending machines, along with tourist information for Minnesota, rest rooms, and water. Note: No charcoal fires are permitted at the Rest Area. There are about 20 concrete picnic tables, with several under shelters, plus other sheltered seating.

If you can’t make the cruise, consider joining the group at 3:00 at the Rest Area for the picnic. Entry is from westbound I-94. Hope you can join us! Also, our Fall Cruise is tentavely scheduled for October 15th.

FallCruise 510

COM Fall Cruise

Oak Park Heights, MN

Saturday, October 15, 2022

A bit later than in recent years, hoping to take advantage of the Fall colors. Register at the McDonald’s at 14545 60th Street North (south frontage road for Mn Hwy 36) in Oak Park Heights near Stillwater, about a mile west of the St. Croix Crossing bridge. Parking also probably available next door at the Taco Bell. Please register (sign waiver and get route instructions) about 10:00, with departure at 10:30 am. Taco Bell and McDonald’s should both be open for food and restrooms. Route will be in northern Washington County, and perhaps Ramsey Co. or Western Wisconsin. End point will be somewhere in the Stillwater/Oak Park Heights vacinity. Again likely a couple of stops along the way, lots of colorful photo ops, with perhaps another ice cream stop on the route.

Registration day of event; 30 minutes prior to departure.
Cost: $5 per car
Registration: 10:00 am
Driver’s Mtg: 10:15
